| For the front of the camp trailer I wanted to mount a propane tank. This tank would be used for both cooking and lighting. Instead of the normal 20lb. tank that you would see on a barbecue, I went with a 30lb. tank that should last for quite a long time. |
The tank was to be mounted on the tongue of the trailer. The first step was to fit a plate between the trailer frame and weld it into place. |
Next a strip of metal was bent into a circle. This hoop will fit snug around the ring on the bottom of the propane tank. |
The metal is slowly bent in to a circle. |
Once it is close enough the ends are welded together. |
The weld is ground smooth. |
Then the ring is put back into the bender and worked into a better circle. |
The finished result. |
The ring is then welded to the mounting plate. |
A piece of channel is cut and holes are drilled in each end. |
The channel is marked and then notches are made to fit on the tanks carry handle. |
The channel is bolted down and the tank is now well secured to the trailer. |
